It's Megan Ads

Since the beginning, most people have pronounced our company's name wrong.
Actually, til' today, some people just don't get it.

"Mega Ads", "Megar Ards"
funny, funny names lah.. *terriblela*
one even asked if it was Baskin Robbins?!
where got connection?

Now, about 2 years ago,
there was one person who called and asked if it was Mega Ass!
Poor Meng, flabbergasted, blanked out for a good few seconds
before shouting MEGAN ADS! MEGAN ADS!
*slams phone down*

The company is named after the bosses daughter Megan.
and Ad as in Advertising-lah.
So try not to get it wrong ya.

Kesian Megan nee..
Imagine growing up with people mis-pronouncing your name.
Quite the traumatizing.

So now you knows.

Have a good evening. Cheers!

You wanna what?

How do you think your agency can help us solidify our market position?

How do you see your agency contributing to our growth?

Do you have any breakthrough ideas which are which will help us achieve our brand objectives.?

Any one of these questions was what I expected for my first meeting today. Instead it was ...

"I wanna new design for the price tag."

No offence. But aren't there other pressing matters which we should worry about.

In all honesty, I did try to explain what an advertising agency does. Well I did create that conversational opportunity for the client to ask. In case she had no idea. Well, I don't know. The lights were on, but there's nobody home. Three cans short of a six pack. Not the brightest bulb on the Xmas tree...and all that.

Wonder what the rest of the week will be like?

Small Fish in a Big Ocean

The thing about advertising in Malaysia is that it - the agencies - have tremendous amount of talent and skill. In terms of execution and presentation was never in doubt. But sadly, it lacks the "daring" factor. No one dares to challenge, to break the norm. Simply put, they clients are too chicken shit to invest in an idea. An original idea. It's always about trying to emulate your competitors by imitating their concepts, campaigns and even their artistic direction.

Take telcos for instance. The big 3: Maxis, Celcom and DiGi. Now, correct me if I am wrong, the back of your head must have sang the 'I Will Follow You' theme secretly, or a visual of the creepy, yet goofy looking yellow man must have popped out somewhere. Now why is that? Simple.

Because it was daring. It was original. It was simply very light, entertaining and memorable. You do know they (DiGi) suck horribly in terms of coverage compared to Maxis. But yet, people fancy DiGi these days. Celcom ads are just simply glorifying mediocricy. A dumb blond ad. Beautiful, but ultimately forgetable. The classic splashing the cash blindly. If they had invested more time in original ideas, they would have gone further.

Maxis ads are just plain boring. But sadly, they do have the best coverage. Tarik harga mentality.

Haih, why can't clients have faith in us?

Anyway, let's decide.

This is the new Megan Ads

For the most part of the year, the boss has been whining at our inability to contribute anything to this blog. Well, no offence, we don't exactly have that luxury. But hey, now we do! Or at least I do, so here we go...a polished new look to this site. Simplified for the better.

And I did all this on my own, on a Saturday morning.

God, I need a life.

Thank God It's Friday.

Besides the fact that some of us do have to work tomorrow,
it's still great that it's already Friday.

This week, especially, has passed by with a blink of an eye.
Everybody had lots to do (still do)
We've accomplished quite a bit this week.
So YAY! us.

Everything is going smoothly.
Let's just hope nothing goes wrong.

Do stop by at PISA this weekend.
A property fair is going on and our work is up on display.
Asia Hills, Harbour Place & Ideal - The One.

OH! We still need to do our meeting thing.
Damn.

Have a great weekend everybody! Cheers.

What happened?

Unbelievable. Why haven't anyone else contributed to this blog? You know who you are. Come on, get moving already. Or are we such a boring lot that we have nothing to bitch about.
